Wimoney Privacy policy
Wimoney privacy policy
Last updated 7 November 2026
In short: Wimoney keeps your financial records on your phone. There is no Wimoney account and no Wimoney server. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you turn on backup to your own Google Drive.
What Wimoney stores
Everything you add or confirm in the app is stored only in the app’s private storage on your phone:
- Accounts, transactions, categories, bills, limits, savings goals and notes you enter or confirm.
- People you lend to or borrow from, as names you type, with the amounts you record.
- Your settings, such as theme, currency, reminder time and app lock.
Bank alerts (SMS and notifications)
If you allow it, Wimoney reads incoming bank SMS and notifications from your banking apps to find transactions. This happens entirely on your phone.
Messages that are not bank transactions, such as OTPs, personal messages and promotions, are ignored and never stored. A bank alert only becomes a transaction after you confirm it.
You can withdraw these permissions at any time in Android settings and keep adding entries by hand.
What leaves your phone
Nothing, unless you turn on Google Drive backup. Wimoney has no backend, no analytics, no advertising and no crash reporting.
If you turn on Google Drive backup in Settings › Backup and restore, you sign in with your Google account and Wimoney saves a backup file in the app’s private folder in your own Google Drive. Only Wimoney can see that folder. Google’s handling of that file is covered by the Google Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy).
Permissions and why
- SMS and notification access: to find bank transactions, as described above. Optional.
- Notifications: to show reminders and new-transaction prompts.
- Exact alarms and start at boot: so bill and daily reminders fire on time after a restart.
- Biometrics: to unlock the app with your fingerprint or face if you turn on app lock. Your biometric data stays with Android and is never seen by Wimoney.
- Internet: used only for Google Drive backup, and only after you turn it on.
Backup files
You can also export a backup file and save it wherever you choose. Anyone with that file can read your records, so keep it somewhere safe.
Children
Wimoney is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Deleting your data
Your data is on your phone, so you are in control of it. Clearing Wimoney's storage or uninstalling the app deletes everything on the device. If you used Google Drive backup, you can remove the backup from Google Drive (Settings › Manage apps in Drive) or turn off backup in the app.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date. Significant changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
Contact
Wimoney is made by Ferin C Francis under the name Wimenty, in India. For any question about this policy or your data, email hello@wimenty.com.
